I find it so funny that you posted this thread because I, too, for a few weeks now having been thinking about all the negative generalizations and sign bashing I've been seeing here time and time again. Except, I was thinking of posting a thread as a form of collective therapy, where everyone takes it upon themselves to talk reckless sh*t about whatever sign they're hating on as a form of release but within a more appropriate context that doesn't interfere with describing or analyzing certain placements/energies in a more theoretical and informative fashion. I stopped contributing to Pisces threads because, in many cases, what I say (in forms of long and thorough posts) somehow always boils down to Pisces is a liar and a cheater. Seriously?I get really tired of seeing all these posts that contribute nothing to certain threads but opining in what seems to be a very subjective and narrow-minded manner. Someone got cheated on by a Pisces therefore Pisces is a cheater. Someone got stung by a Scorpio therefore Scorpios are unwaveringly ruthless. I don't like this. It hampers the purpose of a thread, the exchange of interesting and reliable analyses and obviously, a positive atmosphere where people can discuss the placements in question without being gunned down by these odd and unwarranted "observations".
Sure, we all have an aversion to certain signs or energies, but that does not mean we get to make absolute statements on those signs. This becomes a matter of synastry, natal phenomena, and personal experience, as you were implying.
I like this idea that you're promoting, unfortunately the majority of people who make these generalizations are the very ones who will fail to contribute here in the way that you'd like. Which explains why this thread is "on fire"... Ridiculous.
I'll start though.
I have a marked aversion towards Aries. I don't judge people because they are Aries but, definitely, from the perspective of my natal, there is something about their energy that does not sit well, at least theoretically, with my identity, views, and personality.
Ironically, I have a 1st house stellium. I'm a total fire void and cardinal void. I have absolutely nothing that would aspect Aries in my chart in the form of conjunction, square, opposition or trine (only generational planets). I think, in a way, this implies a general and total discordance and lack of relatability with Aries. There is nothing in my chart that would indicate a potential depth of interaction with them. It's just not there.
Even Taurus, whom I also have a hard time really connecting with, can possibly affect me via it's potential square interaction with my Aqua ASC and Mars, and Scorpio MC. I get Taurus, although I am not particularly intrigued by Taurus.
Aries, I just don't get. At all and I think it is somehow expressed in my natal. For this reason, I believe this contributes to the aversion I feel towards them. Pullen says Mars is my strongest planet and Aries is my 2nd dominant sign. But I very strongly disagree with this. It's just because Mars is the closest planet to my ASC and I have a 1st stellium which I feel, and I've argued this a million times, gives the planets within it the Arian "heart on my sleeve" characteristic but certainly not the nature of Aries.
Capricorn does not personally aspect my planets either, but I am very Saturnine and have it on the cusp of my 12th. It's ruler, Saturn, is conjunct Sun (7th ruler), Mercury (5th and 8th ruler) and Venus and is in the 1st house. I've attracted so many Cap folk, so it works just fine because there is some kind of energy mirroring.
I hope this is kind of what you're looking for. I really would like to see more people who have an adequate understanding of astrology contribute to this thread. It's a good way to discuss the lack of affinity towards certain signs without getting lost in the chaos of our subjective experiences. This is not a psychology forum, though we can certainly discuss psychology in unison with astrology which is always interesting.
I'm going to soon post a thread that I would really like you to contribute in. You are well-versed when it comes to astrology and I've noticed your posts have a powerful philosophical undertone that I believe would be rather helpful to my question.
Love your allusion to the Buddhist problem of suffering! It fits very well within this context.
